Quality of Life satisfaction in the Cayman Islands rose to 84.0%, up 1.1% overall

24 March 2026 | Press Release | By: Christina Trumbach Quality of Life in the Cayman Islands improved in Fall 2025, with overall satisfaction rising to 84.0% (up 1.1% from Fall 2024). Caymanians reported slightly lower but faster-improving satisfaction at 82.9% (+1.2%).

Health and wellness remained the strongest contributor (85.2%), with gains in mental wellness and modest improvement in healthcare waiting times, although wait times remain the lowest-rated element. Employment and job quality saw the largest improvement (+3.0% to 83.5%), reflecting higher employment and more people feeling their income meets their standard of living.

Material living conditions (85.4%) and economic and physical safety (87.1%) also improved, supported by reduced overcrowding, fewer bills in arrears, lower poverty and food insecurity, and a stronger sense of safety. Leisure and social satisfaction rose slightly (81.4%), with less loneliness and better work-life balance.

Natural and living environment satisfaction increased to 76.4%, though concerns persist about environmental protection, infrastructure, and development. The happiness rankings by district of residence were as follows:

West Bay: 87.7% (highest overall satisfaction)

East End: 87.2%
George Town: 86.5%
Sister Islands: 83.8%
Bodden Town: 81.7%
North Side: 81.0% Key issues across districts include healthcare wait times, road congestion, support for small businesses and entrepreneurship, housing overcrowding, environmental management, and education/lifelong learning.

There were also some differences between the satisfaction ratings of Caymanians vs those of residents overall.

Leisure & social: Caymanians (80.9%) are slightly below residents (81.4%); loneliness is lower among Caymanians (19.8% vs 23.6%).
Natural & living environment: Caymanians (74.9%) rate conditions lower than residents (76.4%) and show stronger dissatisfaction with environmental protection, infrastructure, and development.
Overall pattern: Caymanians consistently report slightly lower satisfaction than the total resident population, especially on services, environment, and economic opportunity, but experienced equal or greater improvements year-over-year.
