ASCA Pitch Day 2026 - Decoy, Deception, Camouflage and Concealment Advance Notice
Summary
The Department of Defence's Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA) has published an advance notice for a forthcoming Request for Information (RFI) on agile signature management capabilities through decoy, deception, camouflage and/or concealment. The notice closes on 4 May 2026 at 2:00 pm ACT Local Time; however, this closing date does not apply to the RFI itself, which will be released separately with its own deadline. Respondents who propose promising solutions — as assessed by a panel of Defence subject matter experts — will be invited to pitch at the ASCA Pitch Day 2026 in Perth, scheduled to coincide with the Land Forces International Land Defence Exposition in October 2026.
“The Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator's (ASCA) mission is to accelerate the development and transition of asymmetric capabilities to the Australian Defence Force through innovation, in order to meet Defence priority needs.”

What changed
The Department of Defence DSRG has posted an advance notice (ATM ID: ASCA-PITCHDAY-26-AN2) signalling an upcoming RFI on capabilities enabling agile signature management through decoy, deception, camouflage and concealment. The notice does not solicit responses — it alerts industry and academia that an RFI will be released in May 2026 with full details including the Challenge Statement and assessment criteria. Companies and research institutions with relevant technologies should monitor the ASCA website (www.asca.gov.au/opportunities) for the RFI release and prepare submissions addressing the stated theme. Promising respondents will be invited to an in-person Pitch Day in Perth in October 2026.
Affected parties — primarily defence technology firms, academia, and dual-use research organisations — should treat this advance notice as a preparation window. There is no obligation to respond to the notice itself, and the Commonwealth disclaims liability for any costs incurred in responding to the future RFI. Organisations with capabilities in signature management, concealment, or deception technologies should review the theme and align any potential submission with anticipated assessment criteria before the May 2026 RFI release.

The Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator’s (ASCA) mission is to accelerate the development and transition of asymmetric capabilities to the Australian Defence Force through innovation, in order to meet Defence priority needs.
ASCA's Pitch Days provide industry and academia the opportunity to present their ideas to Defence, ensuring Defence remains aware of new capabilities and innovations.
This advance notice is for the second of two Pitch Days in 2026, and will be an RFI on new capabilities and innovations that enable agile signature management through decoy, deception, camouflage and/or concealment.
Responses to the RFI describing such capabilities and innovations - dubbed 'proposed solutions' - must address the Challenge Statement that fall under this theme of 'Decoy, Deception, Camouflage and Concealment'.
Respondents to the RFI that propose promising solutions (as assessed by a panel of Defence subject matter experts) will be invited to pitch to an audience of senior Defence officials, other valued guests and members of the broader defence ecosystem at the Pitch Day event, that will coincide with the Land Forces International Land Defence Exposition 2026 in Perth, in October.
Further information on this upcoming RFI, including the Challenge Statement, assessment criteria and Pitch Day event, will be made available from May 2026.
