Nebraska Suspends Remote Insurance Agent Testing
Summary
The Nebraska Department of Insurance has issued new guidance suspending remote testing for insurance agent licensing. Effective immediately, all insurance producer examinations must be conducted at physical testing sites across Nebraska and other designated PSI locations nationwide. This change impacts prospective and current insurance producers seeking licensure.
What changed
The Nebraska Department of Insurance has issued a Guidance Document (IGD - D8) immediately suspending remote testing for insurance agent licensing. All future examinations must be conducted at one of the thirteen designated physical testing sites within Nebraska or at other PSI examination centers across the United States. While previously scheduled remote tests will be honored, all new testing arrangements must utilize physical locations.
This change requires prospective insurance producers and companies to adjust their licensing plans to accommodate the elimination of remote testing. Candidates must now schedule their examinations at one of the specified physical sites, potentially requiring travel and increased logistical planning. The Department has provided a link to PSI's website for information on testing locations and availability. No specific compliance deadline is mentioned beyond the immediate cessation of remote testing for future appointments.
What to do next
- Update internal training materials to reflect the suspension of remote insurance agent testing.
- Advise prospective insurance producers to schedule examinations at physical testing sites.
- Direct candidates to the provided PSI website for information on available testing locations and times.
