Summary
The Georgia Public Service Commission published its 2015 news release archive documenting regulatory actions including a 14% fuel rate reduction for Georgia Power customers ($5/month savings for average residential customer), a $250,000 civil penalty against Atlanta Gas Light Company for Eastside Pipeline deficiencies, natural gas line extensions for Gilmer County poultry farms, a solar facility groundbreaking at King's Bay Naval Submarine Base, Lifeline Awareness Week proclamation, and $5 million in low-income natural gas assistance grants over five years.
What changed
This archive page compiles Georgia Public Service Commission news releases from 2015, documenting regulatory actions on utility rates, infrastructure projects, penalties, and consumer assistance programs. Key actions include a unanimous fuel rate reduction for Georgia Power customers, a $250,000 civil penalty against Atlanta Gas Light Company for Eastside Pipeline corrosion deficiencies (ratepayers protected from repair costs), approval of natural gas line extensions serving poultry farms, and $5 million in grants for low-income natural gas customer assistance over five years.
Affected parties including utility companies, ratepayers, and energy consumers should note these historical regulatory actions demonstrate the Commission's oversight of natural gas and electric utilities, enforcement of infrastructure standards, and consumer protection initiatives. The penalty against AGLC specifically protects ratepayers from bearing costs for pipeline deficiencies while the low-income assistance program provides grants through community service agencies for bill payment and furnace/water heater repair or replacement.
