Summary

The Louisiana Public Service Commission published an ADA Policy establishing web accessibility standards and meeting accommodation procedures for people with disabilities. The policy commits to WCAG 2.1, Level AA compliance and provides procedures for requesting ADA accommodations at Business & Executive meetings.

What changed

The LPSC adopted an ADA Policy under La. Revised Statute 42:17.2.1 establishing procedures for people with disabilities to participate in Commission Business & Executive meetings. The policy sets a goal of WCAG 2.1, Level AA compliance for web content and outlines a formal accommodation request process including a submission deadline of 4:30 p.m. the day before the meeting.

Government agencies and disability advocacy groups should review the updated procedures for meeting participation. Members of the public requiring ADA accommodations must submit the Request for Accommodations Form to the Commission's ADA Coordinator at least one business day before the meeting. Electronic public comments must include exhibit number, commenter name, represented entity, and comment text, and must be received by 4:30 p.m. the day before the meeting to be read into the record.
