SALT LAKE CITY, UT — Today, Tim Davis begins his tenure as the Interim Executive Director of the Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), bringing a commitment to protecting the state’s land, air, and water while fostering responsible growth and development. Gov. Spencer J. Cox appointed Tim Davis as the interim executive director of the department on Feb. 19, 2025, pending confirmation by the Utah State Senate.
With over 25 years of experience in water policy and environmental management, Davis has been instrumental in advancing policy initiatives in both Utah and Montana. Prior to this role, he served as the Deputy Commissioner at the Great Salt Lake Commission, where he led efforts to protect and restore the lake including developing the first strategic plan for the lake alongside Great Salt Lake Commissioner Brian Steed.
