- March 04 2026 Governor Gianforte’s Energy Task Force is hosting a series of public open houses to engage with Montanans on the biggest energy issues facing the state. The task force will host the second-of-three open houses from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on March 24 at the Eastern Montana Fairgrounds Event Center (42 Garryowen Road) in Miles City. The open house will be held a day earlier than originally announced.
The task force will conclude the open house series in Colstrip on April 15. The first open house took place in Butte on February 25.
Each of the open houses will offer attendees a chance to talk directly with members of the Energy Task Force to ask questions and give feedback on various energy topics. There will be no formal presentations. Staff will be available from state agencies to discuss their regulatory authority related to energy development.
Governor Gianforte established the Energy Task Force through executive order in September 2025. The Governor charged the task force with providing recommendations and strategies to increase the supply of affordable and reliable energy options for Montana. The bipartisan task force meets regularly and will provide recommendations and strategies in a written report to the Governor in September 2026.
