DEC Announces 'State of the Lake Fisheries' Public Meeting with Lake Champlain Management Cooperative
Fisheries Staff to Present and Answer Questions March 28 in Burlington, VT
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will join its partners in the Lake Champlain Fish and Wildlife Management Cooperative, a working group of fisheries professionals from the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department, and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, to host a ‘State of the Lake Fisheries’ meeting on Saturday, March 28. The public meeting is open for anglers and other individuals interested in the fisheries of Lake Champlain.
The meeting will take place Saturday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Robert Miller Community and Recreation Center (Community Room), **** 130 Gosse Court, Burlington, VT 05408. Registration is not required.
This meeting is an opportunity for agency staff and others to provide updates on the status and trends of the Lake Champlain fisheries and to hear anglers’ questions or concerns. Information will be provided on restoration, research, assessment, and other work accomplished over the past year as well as work planned for the coming year. Topics include lake trout, landlocked Atlantic salmon, sea lamprey, and invasive species. Time will be allotted for questions and discussion following each presentation and at the end of the meeting.
