Summary
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued a notice announcing three exemptions granted during Q1 2026 to nuclear power plant licensees. Exemptions were issued to Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation (10 CFR 50.46), PSEG Nuclear LLC (Hope Creek and Salem stations, 10 CFR 50.71(e)(4)), and Nebraska Public Power District. The notice provides document descriptions, ADAMS accession numbers, and dates for each exemption.
What changed
NRC issued a notice announcing three exemptions granted to nuclear licensees during Q1 2026. The exemptions address specific regulatory requirements under 10 CFR 50.46 (emergency planning) and 10 CFR 50.71(e)(4) (final safety analysis report update schedules) for nuclear generating stations. Licensees affected include Wolf Creek Generating Station, Hope Creek Generating Station, and Salem Nuclear Generating Station.\n\nNuclear facility operators holding NRC licenses should review the exemption documents via ADAMS to understand any modified compliance obligations. The exemptions represent regulatory flexibility granted by NRC in response to specific licensee requests, and do not eliminate all applicable requirements. Documents are available under Docket ID NRC-2026-1718.
