Mountain Water District Rate Adjustment - Decision Without Hearing
Summary
The Kentucky Public Service Commission granted Mountain Water District's motion to proceed with a decision on its water rate adjustment application without a formal hearing. The Commission denied the request to close the record on March 31, 2026, allowing for further information requests.
What changed
The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) issued an order granting in part Mountain Water District's motion to waive a hearing and submit its water rate adjustment application for a decision based on the existing record. The Commission agreed that dispensing with a hearing would save time and resources but denied the district's request to close the record on March 31, 2026, stating the record should remain open for further Commission Staff inquiries and the submission of supplemental rate case expense reports.
Mountain Water District must comply with any further information requests from Commission Staff or participate in informal conferences as required. The order effectively allows the rate adjustment process to move forward without a formal hearing, but maintains flexibility for the Commission to gather additional necessary information before issuing a final decision. No specific compliance deadline is mentioned beyond responding to future requests and submitting expense reports by March 31, 2026.
What to do next
- Respond to any further information requests from Commission Staff.
- Participate in any scheduled informal conferences, if required.
- Submit supplemental rate case expense report by March 31, 2026.
