Summary

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has scheduled a workshop and set a comment deadline for CDS Stoneridge Utilities, LLC's application to increase water rates by 43 percent. The utility cites system deficiencies and lost revenue as reasons for the proposed increase. Written comments are due by May 7, 2026.

What changed

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has announced a workshop and comment deadline concerning an application by CDS Stoneridge Utilities, LLC (Case No. SWS-W-25-02) to increase its water rates by 43 percent. The utility attributes the requested increase to necessary system upgrades identified by the Department of Environmental Quality and a loss of revenue from a major customer constructing its own well. The proposed rate hike would affect monthly customer charges based on meter size.

Regulated entities and consumers are encouraged to participate in the online workshop scheduled for March 18, 2026, to learn more about the application and ask questions. Written comments on the proposed rate increase must be submitted to the Commission by May 7, 2026, via the PUC website, email, or mail. This action represents a significant proposed change in service costs for affected customers.

What to do next

  1. Review CDS Stoneridge Utilities, LLC's application for a 43% water rate increase.
  2. Participate in the online workshop on March 18, 2026, if applicable.
  3. Submit written comments by May 7, 2026.
