Colorado Public Utilities Commission Announces April Public Comment, Information and Engagement Opportunities

Submitted by [user:fieldfirstname] March 26, 2026 - The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is committed to informing and engaging the public in the matters before the Commission, and values perspectives from impacted community members, which is critical in decision-making.

The PUC invites the public to provide public comment, participate in informational and stakeholder meetings, and engagement opportunities. The PUC announces upcoming opportunities each month, which can also be found on the PUC Calendar, and can be found here. All documents associated with these proceedings are available by using the search function on the Commission’s e-filings page.

In addition to filing online and other ways, the PUC now has a new email to receive public comments. Proceeding numbers should be included when submitting using the new public comment email: dorapuccomments@state.co.us.

April 2: Atmos Energy Gas Rate Increase Public Comment Hearings, Proceeding No. 25AL-0499G:
The public is invited to virtual public comment hearings concerning Atmos Energy's gas rate increase proposal, Proceeding No. 25AL-0499G. Atmos Energy delivers natural gas to 65 Colorado communities including Greeley, Steamboat Springs, Craig, Salida, Gunnison, Canon City, Lamar, Cortez and Durango.

Atmos Energy filed a rate case with the PUC on Nov. 25, 2025, seeking an increase in base rates for natural gas service in order to recover costs associated with system operations and infrastructure investment. Atmos is also seeking Commission approval to implement a new rider (or bill charge) to capture the effects of the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act and potential changes to state and federal tax laws.

The company is requesting a net increase in annual gas base rate revenues of approximately $17.56 million, representing a 13.8% increase. If approved as filed, average residential customer monthly bill increases will vary, depending on customer location: $5.47/month for customers in the North rate area, $5.32/month for customers in the Southeast rate area, and $5.61/month for customers in the Southwest rate area.

The Commission is conducting a formal review to determine if the proposed rates are "just and reasonable" including evidentiary hearings. More information on Proceeding No 25AL-0499G is available on the PUC Key Proceedings Gas Rate Case webpage.

Atmos Energy Gas Rate Increase Public Comment Hearings Information:

• Thursday, April 2. The hearings will be held in the morning and the afternoon:
  • The morning public comment hearing will be held from 11:30AM to 1:30PM. The hearing will end at the completion of public comments, but no earlier than 12:15PM.
  • The afternoon public comment hearing will be held from 4PM to 6PM. The hearing will end at the completion of the public comments, but no earlier than 5:15PM.
• To attend the hearings, register here: 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM hearing and the 4PM to 6PM hearing.

April 8: Monthly Commission Public Comment Opportunity:
The Commission accepts virtual public comment during the Commission's 2nd weekly meeting of the month (i.e., the 2nd Wednesday). The PUC holds formal meetings at 9 AM every Wednesday of the month, except for holidays. All meetings are streamed on the PUC’s YouTube page. Due to building construction, the meeting will be held virtually.

• When: Wednesday, April 8, 9 AM
• Registration in advance is encouraged, but not required, for public comment. The registration link will be posted the Friday before the hearing and can be accessed from the PUC Calendar.
• Please note: Comments may not be about any matter currently before the commission, which includes any topic on the agenda for that meeting and comments specific to any currently pending proceeding.
