Summary

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has issued a notice amending property boundaries for the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) New Mexico Operations (NMO). This action clarifies the jurisdiction and administration of specific Craddock B properties, reinforcing federal law against unauthorized entry and introduction of weapons.

What changed

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has issued a notice amending the property boundaries for the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) New Mexico Operations (NMO). Specifically, the Craddock B property at 2460 Alamo Avenue SE, Albuquerque, NM, is being added to the NNSA's jurisdiction. This amendment reinforces federal law and regulations prohibiting unauthorized entry (trespass) and the introduction of weapons or dangerous materials onto DOE-controlled facilities, as outlined in 10 CFR 860.

This notice serves to inform the public and reinforce existing security measures. While the effective date is May 13, 2025, the primary implication is the formal designation of this property under DOE jurisdiction, subject to the penalties defined in 10 CFR 860.5 for violations. Regulated entities and individuals operating near or interacting with this facility should be aware of the established prohibitions and potential consequences for non-compliance.

What to do next

  1. Review the updated property description for KCNSC NMO Craddock B.
  2. Ensure awareness of federal laws prohibiting trespass and unauthorized introduction of weapons onto DOE facilities.
  3. Communicate updated security protocols to relevant personnel if operations are impacted by the amended boundaries.

Penalties

Whoever willfully violates prohibitions against unauthorized entry or introduction of weapons/dangerous materials shall be guilty of an infraction. Violations concerning fenced or structurally secured facilities are a crime, punishable by fine as defined in 10 CFR 860.5.
