Superintendent Hedalen Announces Launch of Modernized Teacher Learning Hub, New Procedures to Ensure High Quality Professional Development
HELENA, Mont.— Superintendent Hedalen is pleased to announce that the Montana Office of Public Instruction’s newly updated and modernized Teacher Learning Hub is now live.
The enhanced system makes it easier for Montana educators to access, search for, and complete the professional development units (PDUs) required for teacher licensure. With centralized, searchable access, educators can more efficiently find approved professional learning opportunities aligned with state requirements. The OPI intends to continue building out the Learning Hub to become a clearinghouse for educational resources for families, educators, and members of the public.
“This new system reflects our commitment to supporting Montana teachers with high-quality, accessible professional learning,” said Superintendent Hedalen. “By modernizing the platform, we are reducing barriers for educators. Further, we intend to build out the Learning Hub to become a one-stop-shop for educational resources for families and educators.”
In addition to improvements for educators, OPI is also updating the Professional Development Unit Provider System (PDUPS), which will launch later this year. Under the updated system, all currently approved providers will be required to reapply through new standardized forms and workflows designed to ensure alignment with Administrative Rules of Montana (ARM), state & federal law, and instructional best practices.
The updated PDUPS will introduce strengthened review processes, including identification of course hosts, instructors and brief course summaries. These changes will promote consistency, quality, and clarity across the state. Approved providers and professional learning events will be publicly displayed on the OPI website, ensuring educators have transparent access to high-quality opportunities.
These updates represent a significant step forward in supporting Montana’s educators and maintaining strong professional learning standards across the state.
