FE College Workforce Using Teacher Pension Data, 2024 to 2025

The Department for Education published its annual transparency dataset on the further education college workforce in England, drawing on teachers' pension scheme administrative records. The release provides analysis of teacher headcounts, pay levels, new entrants, retention rates, and leavers across the statutory further education sector, spanning the 2002 to 2003 academic year through to 2024 to 2025. It complements the broader further education workforce release published separately by the DfE.

This publication is an informational transparency release and does not impose any compliance obligations on further education colleges or other regulated entities. It is primarily of interest to researchers, policymakers, and analysts tracking trends in the FE teaching workforce over the 23-year period covered.
