DIA Proposes Deleting Privacy Act Records
Summary
The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) is proposing to delete two systems of records notices from its inventory of records subject to the Privacy Act of 1974. The proposed deletion is due to the migration of records into other approved systems or transfer to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
What changed
The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), under the Office of the Secretary of Defense, is proposing the deletion of two specific systems of records notices from its inventory, as these records are no longer actively maintained in their original form. System LDIA 0480, 'Reserve Training Records,' is being deleted because its data has been migrated to the Human Resources Management System (HRMS) and older records transferred to NARA. System LDIA 0275, 'DoD Hotline Referrals,' is being deleted as its records have been migrated into LDIA 0271, 'Investigations and Complaints.' These deletions are proposed to be effective April 7, 2008, unless comments received necessitate a contrary determination.
Regulated entities, specifically government agencies managing such records, should be aware of this proposed action. While this is a notice of deletion for internal agency record management, any parties with concerns or relevant comments should submit them to the DIA Privacy Act Compliance Officer by March 6, 2008. Failure to submit comments by this date may result in the proposed deletions becoming effective without further notice. No specific penalties are mentioned for non-compliance with this notice, as it pertains to internal record system management.
What to do next
- Submit comments to the DIA Privacy Act Compliance Officer by March 6, 2008, if a contrary determination is desired.
