ICE Arrests Child Predators
Summary
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of numerous criminal illegal aliens, including multiple individuals convicted of child sexual abuse offenses. The press release highlights specific cases and emphasizes the administration's commitment to removing such individuals from the country.
What changed
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has announced the arrest of multiple criminal illegal aliens, specifically highlighting the apprehension of individuals convicted of child sexual abuse offenses. The press release details two specific cases: Jose Alfredo Farias-Perez, convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Texas, and Liew Liem Saecho, convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child in California. The announcement frames these arrests as part of a broader initiative to enhance national security and public safety.
While this is an enforcement action rather than a new regulation, compliance officers should be aware of the increased focus on immigration enforcement and the types of criminal offenses that can lead to detention and removal. This action underscores the potential consequences for individuals with criminal records, particularly those involving offenses against children, who are also subject to immigration enforcement. No specific compliance actions are required for regulated entities, but awareness of enforcement priorities is crucial for risk management.
