What changed
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of several individuals convicted of severe crimes, including child molestation, incest, aggravated sexual assault of a child, attempted rape, and drug trafficking. The operation, highlighted by Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis, underscores the administration's commitment to arresting and removing illegal aliens with criminal convictions, emphasizing that "if you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will find you and arrest you."
This announcement serves as a strong signal to individuals in the U.S. illegally who have committed crimes. While no specific compliance actions are required for regulated entities, this press release indicates a heightened enforcement posture by ICE targeting criminal aliens. Compliance officers should be aware of this increased focus, particularly if their organizations interact with or employ individuals who may be subject to immigration enforcement actions. The document does not specify any penalties for non-compliance, as it is an announcement of enforcement actions already taken.
