PCLOB Meeting and Public Comment Period
Summary
The Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB) announced a public meeting on July 23, 2014, to discuss its semi-annual report and future agenda. The public has until August 29, 2014, to submit written comments on the PCLOB's mid-term and long-term agenda.
What changed
The Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB) has announced a public meeting scheduled for July 23, 2014. The meeting will cover the disposition of official business, including consideration and voting on the release of its third semi-annual report to the President and Congress, the announcement of its short-term agenda, and receiving public input on its mid-term and long-term agenda. Non-governmental organizations, the business community, and the general public are invited to provide views.
Written statements for the record must be submitted no later than August 29, 2014. Individuals wishing to address the meeting orally must provide advance notice by July 18, 2014. The PCLOB is seeking public comment on its future agenda, and while the meeting itself is routine, the submission of comments by the deadline is a key action for interested parties. No penalties are mentioned for non-compliance with comment submission, but it represents an opportunity for stakeholders to influence the Board's direction.
What to do next
- Submit written comments on PCLOB's mid-term and long-term agenda by August 29, 2014.
- Provide advance notice by July 18, 2014, if intending to address the meeting orally.
- Review PCLOB's semi-annual report and agenda items for potential input.
