Summary

CERT-FR published advisory CERTFR-2026-AVI-0484 on April 23, 2026, disclosing seven vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-35328 through CVE-2026-35334) in strongSwan, an open-source IPsec VPN implementation. The vulnerabilities affect strongSwan versions prior to 6.0.6 and expose affected systems to remote code execution, remote denial of service, and security policy bypass. Organizations running strongSwan should immediately consult the vendor's security bulletins and apply available patches.

“De multiples vulnérabilités ont été découvertes dans strongSwan. Certaines d'entre elles permettent à un attaquant de provoquer une exécution de code arbitraire à distance, un déni de service à distance et un contournement de la politique de sécurité.”

About this source

CERT-FR is the French government's national cybersecurity incident response team, run by the ANSSI. Their advisory feed publishes vulnerability disclosures, active exploitation warnings, and emergency patching guidance for software in widespread enterprise use: browsers, hypervisors, ERP systems, network equipment, file transfer products. Around 180 advisories a month. The advisories are written in French but cover the same vulnerability universe as CISA, NCSC-UK, BSI's CERT-Bund, and JPCERT, often hours earlier on European-headquartered vendors. Watch this if you patch enterprise software, run a SOC, write detection content, or track Schneider, Dassault, OVH, Atos, or any French-vendor advisory faster than English-language sources will surface it. GovPing publishes each advisory with the affected vendor, severity, and CERT-FR link.

What changed

CERT-FR disclosed seven security vulnerabilities in strongSwan, an open-source IPsec VPN implementation widely used in enterprise and government network environments. The vulnerabilities, catalogued as CVE-2026-35328 through CVE-2026-35334 and disclosed by the vendor on April 22, 2026, affect all strongSwan versions prior to 6.0.6. Three risk categories were identified: remote code execution, remote denial of service, and security policy bypass.

Organizations operating strongSwan in any capacity should immediately identify the installed version and cross-reference against the affected range. Patches are available from the vendor's security bulletins; CERT-FR directs affected parties to consult those documents for remediation guidance. Given the severity of remote code execution risk, priority patching is warranted, particularly for systems accessible from untrusted networks.
