What changed

Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the arrest of Coty Streit, a summer youth camp counselor, on 17 criminal charges related to child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) initiated the investigation in March 2026 following a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) indicating Streit attempted to send Cash App payments to a Bitcoin wallet linked to CSAM trafficking; subpoenas of his cell phone revealed additional NCMEC tips involving CSAM uploaded from his Instagram account.

Youth-serving organizations should treat this arrest as a reminder to audit their hiring and screening practices for positions involving unsupervised access to minors. Background check protocols and compliance with mandatory reporting obligations should be reviewed to ensure alignment with state law requirements.

Attorney General James Uthmeier Announces Arrest of Summer Youth Camp Counselor for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material

View PDF Release Date Apr 23, 2026 Contact Communications Phone (850) 245-0150 TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the arrest of Coty Streit, 31, of Bell. Streit faces 15 counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM), 1 count of Transmission of CSAM by Electronic Device, and 1 count of Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device.

“It should be clear by now that no one will get away with preying on children in Florida, in-person or online,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “I’m thankful for FDLE’s leadership on this investigation and for our law enforcement partners who got this predator out of the community before he was able to be near kids again.”

The investigation into Streit was launched in March 2026, when the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that Streit was attempting to send Cash App payments to a Bitcoin wallet associated with CSAM trafficking.

FDLE obtained subpoenas on Streit’s cell phone information, which led to the discovery of two additional NCMEC cyber tips that Streit was uploading and sharing CSAM from his Instagram account.

Streit is currently held in the Gilchrist County Jail on a $1.7 million bond. If convicted as charged, he faces up to 85 years in the Florida Department of Corrections.

Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office and HSI assisted with Streit’s arrest.

This case will be prosecuted Chief Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Kelsey Bledsoe in the Eighth Judicial Circuit of Florida.
