Law Commission Term Extended to August 31, 2024
Summary
The Law Commission of India has extended the term of the Twenty-second Law Commission. The extension is effective until August 31, 2024, maintaining the existing composition and terms of service for the Chairperson and members.
What changed
This notification formally extends the term of the Twenty-second Law Commission of India. The extension is granted until August 31, 2024. The composition of the commission, which includes a full-time Chairperson, four full-time Members (including a Member-Secretary), and ex officio members from the Department of Legal Affairs and Legislative Department, remains unchanged.
This extension primarily affects the operational timeline of the Law Commission itself. For external regulated entities, there are no immediate compliance actions required. The primary implication is the continued operation and potential output of the Law Commission in its advisory and law reform capacity until the new deadline.
