Summary

The Supreme Court of Missouri issued an order on April 21, 2026, indefinitely suspending attorney Edgar Edward Lim (Missouri Bar number 24838) with no leave to apply for reinstatement for a period of two years. The Court found that Lim violated multiple Rules of Professional Conduct including Rules 4-1.15(a), 4-1.15(a)(5), 4-1.15(c), 4-1.15(f), 4-3.4(c), and 4-8.1(c). Respondent is also ordered to pay $1,000.00 pursuant to Rule 5.19(k) to the Clerk of this Court to the credit of the Advisory Committee Fund, and all costs are taxed to Respondent.

Why this matters

Missouri attorneys should review their trust account handling and record-keeping practices in light of the Rule 4-1.15 violations that formed the basis of this suspension. The Court's explicit reference to Rule 4-3.4(c) (conduct relating to evidence) and Rule 4-8.1(c) (misconduct involving dishonesty) signals that both financial record-keeping and candor obligations are under active disciplinary scrutiny. Attorneys who serve as custodians of client funds or property should confirm their accounts are reconciled regularly and that their record-keeping satisfies all sub-parts of Rule 4-1.15.
