DOJ - VAWA STOP Formula Grant Program Information Collection Extension
Summary
The Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women is seeking a 30-day public comment period for the extension of a previously approved information collection request related to the Violence Against Women Act's STOP Formula Grant Program. The request is for OMB authorization for three years.
What changed
The Department of Justice (DOJ), through its Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), has published a notice in the Federal Register announcing a 30-day public comment period for the extension of an existing information collection. This collection pertains to the Certification of Compliance with the Statutory Eligibility Requirements of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) as amended, specifically for the STOP Formula Grant Program. The DOJ is seeking approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for this information collection for a period of three years.
Affected entities, primarily government agencies that receive STOP Formula Grants, are invited to submit comments on the necessity, accuracy, utility, and clarity of the proposed information collection. The comment period closes on April 20, 2026. While this is a routine notice for an information collection extension, comments are specifically requested regarding the burden and methodology of the data collection. Failure to provide comments may result in the information collection being approved by OMB without further revision.
What to do next
- Review the proposed information collection for the VAWA STOP Formula Grant Program.
- Submit comments on the accuracy, utility, and burden of the collection by April 20, 2026.
