Docherty, MPA, as its executive officer, effective November 24, 2025. Mr. Docherty enters state service after a 30-year career in government relations and association management. He has spent much of his career walking the halls of the State Capitol, most recently for his own firm, TDG Strategies LLC, and as a Partner for KP Public Affairs, and in several senior-level positions with statewide trade associations. In these roles, he led and managed healthcare advocacy and public affairs efforts for a broad portfolio of healthcare and life sciences clients at all levels of California government. Mr. Docherty has been a regular attendee and has worked directly with multiple Department of Consumer Affairs boards, bureaus and commissions, representing clients and advocating on their behalf. Through this work, he has gained broad familiarity with Board and regulatory processes. He will now lead the Board in its consumer protection, licensing, and regulatory efforts across California. Mr. Docherty received a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California.
