What changed

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted SAP SE patent US12586016B2 for an "Integration inspector for data transfer between cloud-based computing systems and digital core." This patent, effective March 24, 2026, describes a framework that establishes checkpoints between application systems and a digital core, automatically validating communication arrangements and performing data replication tests using test data. The abstract indicates the system evaluates and indicates the results of these tests.

This patent grant is primarily an informational notice regarding intellectual property for SAP SE. It does not impose new regulatory obligations on other entities. However, companies operating cloud-based computing environments and digital cores, particularly those in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) software space, may wish to review the patent's claims for potential implications on their own data integration and security practices. Abstract

According to some embodiments, a digital core for a cloud computing environment is associated with an enterprise (e.g., the digital core may comprise enterprise resource planning software optimized for an in-memory database). Moreover, an integration inspector framework may establish a checkpoint between an application system (e.g., a source application system to provide information via the digital core and/or a target application system to receive information via the digital core) and the digital core. The integration inspector framework then automatically validates a communication arrangement associated with the application system and performs a data replication test, in connection with the application system and the digital core, using test data. A result of the data replication test is then evaluated and indicated (e.g., to a user via a user interface).
