What changed

The Colombian Financial Superintendency reported results of a joint financial education campaign with the Superintendencies of Industry and Commerce and of Companies held in Cúcuta on April 20, 2026. The campaign, titled 'Me informo y cuido mi dinero' (I inform myself and protect my money), reached approximately 200 participants through auditorium sessions at the Cúcuta Chamber of Commerce, a press conference, and radio and digital media appearances. Content covered each superintendency's jurisdictional authority over illegal resource collection, false lenders, and abusive practices by online lending applications and websites.

This outreach effort does not impose compliance obligations on regulated entities. Financial institutions, lenders, and digital lending platforms operating in Colombia may note the regulatory emphasis on consumer protection against illegal fundraising and predatory lending, particularly through digital channels. The campaign will continue traversing the national territory, with citizens able to consult inquiries about formal financial products and services.
