What changed

The Bank of Spain has amended its Compendium of Good Practices, a non-binding guidance document that sets supervisory expectations for how credit institutions should interact with their customers. The update introduces new criteria covering three areas: reasonable accommodation for people with disabilities in banking relationships, consumer credit lending standards, and administrative procedures following the death of a customer. This is the second update to the Compendium, which is maintained to reflect the latest regulatory developments impacting bank customers.

Affected credit institutions and banks operating in Spain should review the updated Compendium to ensure their customer-facing policies and internal procedures align with the new criteria. While the Compendium is non-binding, it reflects the Bank of Spain's supervisory expectations and non-compliance may be taken into account in future supervisory reviews.
