What changed
This notice details a contract awarded by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board for the maintenance and corrective service of their Freedom Evo 100 system, essential for clinical diagnostic services. The contract, valued at £60,102 excluding VAT, is awarded to Tecan and will be in effect from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2029. The procurement route chosen is 'below threshold - without competition' due to the specialist and proprietary nature of the equipment, limiting maintenance to the original manufacturer.
This notice serves as a transparency measure for the market. While it does not impose new direct obligations on external entities, it signifies a procurement decision by a public health authority.
