Texas Court of Appeals Dismisses Mandamus Petition
Summary
The Texas Court of Appeals, 1st District, dismissed a petition for a writ of mandamus filed by Angela Bass. The court found the petition moot because the trial court had already vacated the order that was the subject of the mandamus request.
What changed
The Texas Court of Appeals, 1st District, has dismissed a petition for a writ of mandamus in the case of In Re Angela Bass v. the State of Texas (Docket No. 01-26-00198-CV). The relator, Angela Bass, sought to compel the trial court to vacate an order granting a writ of sequestration. However, the court found the petition moot as the trial court had already vacated the challenged order on December 29, 2025, rendering the mandamus relief sought unnecessary and uncompellable.
This decision means that the specific mandamus action is concluded. For legal professionals involved in appellate or trial court proceedings, this case serves as a reminder that seeking mandamus relief may be dismissed as moot if the underlying issue has already been resolved by the lower court. No specific compliance actions are required for regulated entities as this is a court procedural matter.

voided the challenged order on December 29, 2025, but argues she is entitled to the
same relief by mandamus.
We dismiss the mandamus petition as moot because Relator has received the
relief sought in her petition, and we cannot compel the trial court to vacate an order
it has already vacated. See In re Bridger Ins. Servs., No. 01-25-00249-CV, 2025

proceeding) (dismissing mandamus petition as moot because trial court vacated
challenged order and relator “received the relief sought” in its petition); In re
