Summary

The Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals has approved a stipulation to dismiss the appeal in State v. Kauhola. The dismissal is with prejudice, as per the parties' agreement and compliance with Hawaii Rules of Appellate Procedure.

What changed

The Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals has issued an order approving a stipulation to dismiss the appeal in the case of State v. Kauhola (Docket Number CAAP-25-0000508). The dismissal, effective February 27, 2026, is with prejudice and follows the parties' agreement in accordance with Hawaii Rules of Appellate Procedure Rule 42(b) and 42(c). The court confirmed that filing fees were paid, no attorneys' fees or costs are outstanding, and the defendant voluntarily agreed to the dismissal.

This action represents the final disposition of the appeal, meaning the case will not proceed further on appeal. Legal professionals involved in this case should note the dismissal with prejudice, which prevents the same appeal from being refiled. No specific compliance actions are required for regulated entities outside of the parties directly involved in this specific case.
