HOPE for Homeowners Program Interim Final Rule Amendments

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has published an interim final rule amending the HOPE for Homeowners Program. These amendments expand eligibility to include 2-to-4 unit properties, offer upfront payments in lieu of future appreciation payments, increase the maximum mortgage term to 40 years, and adjust loan-to-value and debt-to-income ratios. The changes aim to increase borrower and lender participation and improve program operations.
