Economic Development Administration Updates Trade Adjustment Assistance Regulations

The Economic Development Administration has issued a final rule updating its regulations for the Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms (TAAF) program and the Public Works and Economic Development Act (PWEDA). The changes aim to clarify processes, reorganize content for better understanding, and align regulations with statutory requirements, easing burdens on firms and Trade Adjustment Assistance Centers.

EDA Final Rule Expands Tribal Entity Grant Eligibility

The Economic Development Administration (EDA) issued a final rule expanding eligibility for grants under the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965. The rule now includes for-profit Tribal corporations wholly owned by and established for the benefit of a Tribe, removing a previous non-profit limitation.

EDA Eliminates Supplementary Grant Regulation

The Economic Development Administration (EDA) is eliminating its regulation on supplementary investment assistance, citing confusion and redundancy with its enabling statute. This final rule removes 13 CFR 301.6, which provided guidance on supplementing grants from other federal programs. The elimination is effective July 2, 2025.
