Crib Mattresses Safety Standard Direct Final Rule
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is updating the mandatory safety standard for crib mattresses to incorporate the latest ASTM voluntary standard. This direct final rule will become effective on May 3, 2026, unless significant adverse comments are received by March 16, 2026.

CPSC Water Beads Safety Standard Takes Effect
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has implemented a new federal safety standard for water beads, effective March 12, 2026. Water beads manufactured after this date must comply with new performance, labeling, and testing requirements to protect children from ingestion and other hazards.
