EU Regulations: Tuna Origin, Child Restraints, Cabo Verde Derogation

The European Union has published two new regulations, effective March 9, 2026. The first, Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/507, grants Cabo Verde a temporary derogation from preferential origin rules for prepared or preserved tuna, mackerel, and frigate tuna/mackerel fillets. The second, UN Regulation No. 170, establishes uniform provisions for the approval of child restraint systems intended for use in buses and coaches.

These regulations introduce specific requirements for importers and manufacturers dealing with these products. Businesses involved in the import of tuna products from Cabo Verde must adhere to the temporary derogation rules. Manufacturers and suppliers of child restraint systems for buses and coaches must ensure their products meet the newly established UN Regulation No. 170 approval standards. Compliance with these regulations is expected by the effective date of March 9, 2026.
