Treasury Securities Regulations Collection Extension Proposal
Summary
The Department of the Treasury is seeking public comments on a proposed extension of the information collection for Regulations Governing U.S. Treasury Securities—State and Local Government Series. The comment period closes on September 2, 2025.
What changed
The Department of the Treasury, through the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, has issued a notice and request for comments regarding the extension of an existing information collection, OMB Number 1530-0044, concerning Regulations Governing U.S. Treasury Securities—State and Local Government Series. This collection is necessary for establishing investor accounts, issuing and redeeming securities, and ensuring certification requirements are met for state and local governments.
Regulated entities, specifically state and local governments, are invited to submit written comments by September 2, 2025. The Treasury is soliciting feedback on the necessity, utility, accuracy of burden estimates, clarity, and methods to minimize the burden of the information collection. This is a routine request for comments on an existing collection, not a new regulation or enforcement action.
