Sophia Bennani appointed AMF Director of Inspections
Until now Director of the Asset Management Company and Financial Investment Advisor (AMC-FIA) Inspection Division, Sophia Bennani has been appointed Director of Inspections with effect from 16 February 2026. She succeeds Nicolas Patel, who held this position for 15 years.
Sophia Bennani is a graduate of ENSAE and holds a postgraduate diploma (DEA) in macroeconomics, econometrics and quantitative methods. In September 2005, she began her career at the AMF as a project manager for complex management techniques in the savings products and service providers department. There, she contributed to regulatory and policy change in relation to the calculation of fund leverage, valuation and risk control in asset management companies.
From September 2009 to August 2012, Sophia was seconded to the ACAM and subsequently to the ACP (now the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution - the French Prudential Supervisory and Resolution Authority - (ACPR)) as a inspector within an insurance inspection unit.
In September 2012, she joined the AMF's Inspections Department as an inspector in the Asset Management Company and Savings Products Division. Appointed Deputy Director of the AMC-FIA Division in 2015, then Director of this division in 2019, today, she assumes the role of Director of Inspections. Sophia reports to Sophie Baranger, Director of Investigations and Inspections, and AMF Deputy Secretary General.
Sophia's extensive experience of inspections and the AMF will enable her to continue to manage a demanding workload plan, based on a risk-based approach, and to remain in close contact with internal and external stakeholders, in order to meet the challenges of exemplarity, competitiveness and European convergence that guide the AMF's work.
