Summary

The European Central Bank (ECB) announced the extension of Frank Elderson's term as Vice-Chair of the Supervisory Board until December 2028. This decision follows a proposal by the ECB Governing Council and approval from the European Parliament.

What changed

The European Central Bank (ECB) has welcomed the decision by the Council of the European Union to extend Frank Elderson's term as Vice-Chair of the Supervisory Board. His mandate will now continue until the end of his term as an ECB Executive Board member on December 14, 2028. This extension aligns with a prior proposal from the ECB Governing Council and subsequent approval by the European Parliament.

This is an administrative announcement regarding a key leadership position within the ECB's banking supervision framework. While it reaffirms Mr. Elderson's commitment to financial stability and addressing emerging risks such as geopolitical and cyber threats, it does not introduce new regulatory requirements or compliance obligations for regulated entities. Compliance officers should note this leadership continuity within the supervisory body.
