Summary

The US Federal Government has issued Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Circular 2026-01, amending the FAR to adjust thresholds for the World Trade Organization Government Procurement Agreement and Free Trade Agreements. This change is based on predetermined formulas and is effective March 13, 2026.

What changed

Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Circular 2026-01, effective March 13, 2026, amends the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) to adjust the thresholds for the application of the World Trade Organization Government Procurement Agreement and Free Trade Agreements. These adjustments are made according to predetermined formulas as determined by the United States Trade Representative. The specific FAR case number associated with this amendment is 2025-007.

Government agencies and entities involved in international trade that are subject to these agreements must review and understand the updated thresholds. While the document itself is a Small Entity Compliance Guide, the underlying rule published elsewhere in the Federal Register contains the substantive changes. Compliance officers should refer to FAC 2026-01 for detailed information on the revised thresholds and ensure procurement processes are updated accordingly to reflect the new values.

What to do next
