Summary

The Small Business Administration (SBA) issued an amendment to a Presidential disaster declaration for public assistance in Tennessee. This amendment adds specific counties to the declaration related to a severe winter storm incident. The SBA is providing disaster assistance loans for affected individuals and businesses.

What changed

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has issued Amendment 2 to Presidential Disaster Declaration #21436 and #21437 for Tennessee (FEMA-4898-DR). This amendment expands the declaration to include additional counties (Benton, Decatur, Dickson, Fayette, Giles, Hamilton, Hardeman, Henry, Humphreys, Jackson, Madison, Montgomery, Morgan, Overton, Rhea, Roane, Sequatchie, Shelby, Smith, Stewart, Union) as adversely affected by the severe winter storm incident that occurred from January 22-27, 2026. The original declaration was issued on February 6, 2026.

Affected individuals and private non-profit organizations in the newly added counties can now apply for disaster assistance loans through the MySBA Loan Portal. The physical loan application deadline for disaster assistance is April 7, 2026, and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) application deadline is November 6, 2026. Compliance officers should ensure that any entities operating within these newly designated counties are aware of the available disaster relief programs and application deadlines.

What to do next

  1. Review the list of newly added counties to the Tennessee disaster declaration.
  2. Inform affected entities within these counties about the availability of SBA disaster assistance loans.
  3. Ensure timely application submission for physical disaster assistance (deadline April 7, 2026) and EIDL (deadline November 6, 2026).
