Executive Order 26-47: Extension of State Attorney Assignment
Summary
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 26-47, extending the assignment of State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle for one year, until April 11, 2027. This extension is necessary to complete duties related to charges pending against Melody Johnson.
What changed
Executive Order 26-47 extends the previously assigned duties of State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle concerning charges against Melody Johnson. The assignment, originally established by Executive Order 24-67 and extended by Executive Order 25-74, is now continued for an additional year, concluding on April 11, 2027, as the case remains pending and further time is required to complete the assigned duties.
This order reaffirms the executive assignment and requires the Assigned State Attorney to notify the Governor by March 11, 2027, if additional time is needed. This is a procedural extension related to ongoing legal proceedings and does not impose new obligations on regulated entities outside of the specific judicial assignment.
What to do next
- Note the extension of the State Attorney's assignment until April 11, 2027.
- Be aware that the Assigned State Attorney must notify the Governor by March 11, 2027, if further extension is required.
