Summary

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has issued Executive Order 26-50, extending the assignment of State Attorney Ed Brodsky for one year to handle charges against Jonathan Mark Miller. The extension is necessary as the case remains pending and duties are not yet completed.

What changed

Executive Order 26-50, signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on March 2, 2026, reaffirms and extends the executive assignment of State Attorney Ed Brodsky for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit. This extension, valid for one year until April 7, 2027, is necessary because the case against Jonathan Mark Miller is still pending and the assigned duties have not been completed.

The Assigned State Attorney must notify the Governor by March 7, 2027, if further time is required. This action is taken pursuant to section 27.14, Florida Statutes, to ensure the faithful execution of laws and the ends of justice. No new obligations are imposed on external parties; this is an internal government administrative matter.

What to do next

  1. Notify the Governor by March 7, 2027, if additional time is required for the case.
