Executive Order 26-31: Extension of State Attorney Assignment
Summary
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 26-31, extending the assignment of State Attorney Brian Haas for one year, until January 19, 2027. This extension is necessary to complete duties related to charges pending against Donald Seoane.
What changed
Executive Order 26-31 extends the previously issued Executive Order 24-05, as amended by 24-284, which assigned State Attorney Brian Haas to represent the State of Florida in charges against Donald Seoane. The extension is for an additional year, concluding on January 19, 2027, as the case is still pending and the assigned duties are not yet completed.
This order reaffirms the assignment and requires the Assigned State Attorney to notify the Governor by December 19, 2026, if further time is needed. This action is a procedural extension of an existing legal assignment and does not introduce new obligations for regulated entities outside of the specific case context.
What to do next
- Note the extension of the State Attorney's assignment until January 19, 2027.
- Be aware of the notification deadline of December 19, 2026, if additional time is required by the Assigned State Attorney.
