Summary

The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) will hold a Special Commission Conference on February 17, 2026, to consider Florida City Gas' (FCG) petition regarding its 2025 Depreciation Study and Reserve Imbalance. FCG provides natural gas to approximately 116,000 customers across several Florida counties.

What changed

The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) has announced a Special Commission Conference scheduled for February 17, 2026, to deliberate and vote on Florida City Gas' (FCG) petition. FCG is seeking approval for its 2025 Depreciation Study and the amortization of its reserve imbalance. The petition, filed on February 24, 2025, requests the Commission to review updated depreciation parameters and rates based on the study.

This conference follows a technical hearing held on December 11, 2025. The outcome of the vote will determine whether FCG's proposed depreciation adjustments and reserve imbalance amortization are approved. Regulated entities within the natural gas sector in Florida should monitor the FPSC's decision, as it may impact future rate-setting methodologies and financial reporting for depreciation.

What to do next

  1. Monitor FPSC Special Commission Conference on February 17, 2026, regarding FCG's depreciation petition.
  2. Review staff recommendations and FCG's petition for potential impacts on depreciation practices in the utility sector.
