NAIH launches AWARE project for GDPR awareness
Summary
The National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) has launched the EU-funded AWARE project to increase GDPR awareness among micro and small enterprises, particularly in the beauty and private healthcare sectors. The project will run from 2025 to 2027 and includes research, an information website, webinars, and training.
What changed
The National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) of Hungary, in partnership with Trilateral Research Ltd, has launched the AWARE project, funded by the European Union with a budget of €250,000. Running from 2025 to 2027, the project aims to enhance GDPR awareness among micro and small enterprises (SMEs) across the EU, with a specific focus on the beauty and private healthcare sectors. The initiative will involve interviews, the creation of an information website, webinars, and training sessions.
While this is an awareness initiative and not a direct regulatory change, SMEs, especially those in the targeted sectors, should be aware of the project's existence and the resources it will provide. The project's activities, including webinars and training, may offer valuable insights into GDPR compliance. The NAIH encourages participation and engagement with the project's outputs as they become available starting February 2025.

NAIH Announcement on the launch of the AWARE project (Raising GDPR AWAREness for micro-enterprises, with specific attention paid to the beauty industry and private healthcare sector)
Megjelent: 2024. november 18.
The project, funded by the European Union with a total budget of € 250 000 and running from 2025 to 2027, aims to raise awareness of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) at national and EU level among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by highlighting data protection-relevant areas, key factors and providing relevant knowledge and information to target groups. It pays particular attention to employment-related issues and to the mapping of data subjects’ rights and information society services and prioritises the protection and support of women and children in the context of data processing.
Building on the experience gained from the previous SME-related projects (https://naih.hu/star-ii/starii-attekintes), the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) will launch its AWARE project in February 2025, with the participation of the Irish consultancy, research and development firm Trilateral Research Ltd, which specialises in new technologies and data protection issues. In addition to fulfilling the general objectives of the call, the partners plan to specifically target SMEs active in the beauty and private healthcare sectors.
To achieve these goals, the partners will
conduct interviews with SMEs from the beauty and healthcare sector, as well as with SME associations and chambers of commerce across all EU Member States,
summarize the results and launch an information website in Hungarian and English including a repository of useful links of previous privacy projects results,
prepare slides and present webinars to the target stakeholder groups,
conclude the project with training days.
