The Reserve Bank of Australia welcomes the announcement by the Treasurer appointing
Professor Bruce Preston to the Monetary Policy Board.
Professor Preston brings a deep understanding of economics and monetary policymaking. His
distinguished academic career and experience in public policy will assist him to make a
significant contribution to the Board’s deliberations.
Governor Michele Bullock extends her sincere gratitude to Alison Watkins, whose term
ends on 28 February, for her invaluable contributions during her time on the Monetary
Policy Board and previously on the Reserve Bank Board. Ms Watkins brought thoughtful
judgement and a deep appreciation of the challenges facing households, businesses and
