FCIC Seeks Revision of Approved Information Collection for Crop Insurance

Email

Summary

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) is requesting public comment on a revision to an approved information collection related to the Multiple Peril Crop Insurance program. The renewal seeks to extend OMB approval for an additional 3 years, impacting producers and insurance companies reinsured by FCIC.

What changed

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) has announced a public comment period for a revision to an approved information collection request concerning the Multiple Peril Crop Insurance program. This action is a renewal request to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for an additional three-year approval, with OMB number 0563-0053. The information collection is essential for administering the federal crop insurance program, requiring producers to report data for applications, acreage, yields, and losses, and insurance companies to report specific data to FCIC.

Regulated entities, specifically producers and insurance companies reinsured by FCIC, are invited to submit comments on the necessity, accuracy, utility, and clarity of the proposed information collection. The agency aims to enhance the quality of data collected and minimize the burden on respondents. Comments are due by November 24, 2025. This consultation is a step towards the renewal of an existing information collection, not the implementation of new regulations, but feedback is crucial for the agency's evaluation and potential adjustments to the data collection process.

What to do next

  1. Submit comments on the information collection request by November 24, 2025.
  2. Review the abstract and details of the information collection for the Multiple Peril Crop Insurance program.
