Alabama Evaluation of Services Commission recreated as legislative body
Alabama enacted SB317 to recreate the Commission on the Evaluation of Services as a legislative department and establish the Legislative Committee on the Evaluation of Services. The bill revises and clarifies the commission's duties and organizational structure. The legislation passed the Senate 30-0 and the House 103-0 (102-1 on amended version).
Child Sexual Abuse Laws Study Commission Created
The Alabama Senate adopted SJR79 on March 11, 2026, creating the Alabama Legislative Study Commission on Child Sexual Abuse Laws and Policies. Senator Merika Coleman-Evans sponsored the resolution, which establishes a commission to study and review existing state laws and policies related to child sexual abuse.
