COMMUNICATING WITH A DEVICE HAVING LIMITED AVAILABILITY

Abstract

Apparatuses and methods for communicating with a device having limited availability. A method for an Ambient Internet of Things (A-IoT) device to communicate with a reader includes receiving, in a first interval, a first reader-to-device (R2D) message and receiving a second R2D message. The first interval is based on a periodicity or an energy level of the A-IoT device. The method further includes determining whether to transmit a first physical device-to-reader channel (PDRCH) providing a first device-to-reader (D2R) message in response to reception of the second R2D message and, based on the determination, one of transmitting the first PDRCH or receiving a third R2D message that includes the same content as the second R2D message.
