Abstract

A drive transfer system (40) configured to drive a remote implantable medical device (1) configured to treat disease, the system (40) comprising a motor (42) configured to actuate an implantable medical device (1), a controller device (41) communicable with the motor (42) configured to modify the output parameters of the motor (42) in accordance with the treatment required, and a drive shaft (8) configured to operably connect the motor (42) to the implantable medical device (1) to drive the implantable medical device (1) when the motor (42) is located remotely from the implantable medical device (1). The system of the invention finds particular utility in the treatment of cardiac diseases such as heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).
